Overheating 2 Months, 4 Weeks ago Karma: 0
HELP!! Went out last weekend and sucked up loads of weed long story but teaching kids to drive !!, have a Kawasaki STX 900. Cleared weed all fine for a few minutes then lost power and warning light came on. Left 15 minutes started all ok for 1 minute then same thing happened. Pulled out of water could see nothing so took home connected hose to engine and ran fine. Assumed blockage on inlet pipe which I checked today. Dropped plate beneath outlet pipe clear and connected hose to inlet by impeller ? and ran fine all pipes clear. Got torch and looked at impellor etc and all looks clear. Did not put in water today but all looks fine. I am a novice can you tell me if I am overlooking something as it does not make sense > The tell tale on the lake when it overheated both times showed water was not pumping through but on the hose today all pipes clear etc and tell tale fine. HELP !!

It's sounding like you've headed for the seat of the problem ...... but of course, you'll know, when you get her on the water !!

Check the water intake from the pump isnt clogged with weed or it will keep on overheating as the hose goes in further up the intake.
