Who's Cutting the Mustard?
Monday, 23 August 2010 11:25

We catch up with the team of the JSRA for all the latest news and results from Rounds 3 and 4 of the National Championships from Grendon Lakes and 7 Lakes Country Park....

racingThe JSRA’s National Championships headed back to Grendon Lakes, old JSRA hunting ground, for Round 3 of its National Tour after the pre-booked third round venue pulled out with only weeks to go. The staff at Grendon did a great job to accommodate the JSRA bandwagon with such short notice and despite the ruthless windy conditions on Saturday, the event went with out a hitch. But for Round 4 the circus headed north to Crowle in Lincolnshire to 7 Lakes Country Park. A first time visit for the tour and many of its competitors but what a great site and what a fabulous welcome from the owners and staff of this quintessentially British holiday park. The huge expanse of water provided a wonderful opportunity to lay a hard and fast course, and the excellent spectator viewing gave the Freestylers the perfect amphitheater from which to show off their prowess.

JETSHED SKI GP CLASS
British Champion Renaud Urbain looks set to take another title in the Jetshed sponsored Ski GP class after a nearly clean sweeping all 10 of the 12 motos. The mighty Belgian has dominated for the past couple of years and if our boys or girls want to change things they really need to step up to the game or the British title will be heading back to Belgium for the second consecutive year.

Ex-British champion Simon Gill is the only rider with the horses to keep Urbain honest on the start straight but with several mechanicals and a no show at Round 4 has left him way down the pecking order and now focusing on the bigger picture of the World Championships in October. The youngster Matt Edwards is now secure in second with a consistent showing all season, and even managed a moto win when Urbain took an untimely spill at Round 4. Jason Young resides in third, but mechanical gremlins have scuppered the Scot’s 2010 season.

Jet skiers Raising Money for Help for Heroes
Written by Jane Rickard    Thursday, 19 August 2010 16:42

This an event not to be missued - the largest recreational PWC event in the world - so put it in your diaries now. On 4th September the annual Solent Skiers Association Wight Stuff event will see 60 PWC and up to 120 riders heading to Lee on Solent, Hampshire to take part in a day long blast covering 60 miles. After leaving Daedalus Slipway, Lee on Solent, they'll ride clockwise around the Isle of Wight (with quick stops at Sandown and Yarmouth)  before heading back to Lee on Solent. The exciting day will be followed up by, of course, an after event party. Expect to see riders of all ages and abilities raising money for, this year, ‘Help for Heroes’. Participants are asked to try to raise a minimum of £100 in sponsorship money.

Candi Abbott, Director of the Personal Watercraft Partnership said, “This event is always quite a spectacle with so many riders taking to the water at the same time.  I’m confident that this year’s event will be just as much fun a previous years and hopefully choppy seas won’t hinder us getting around the Island this year!”
